Li Ke is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers to have ever played for China, and he remains a legend in Chinese football to this day. Born on April 18, 1972, in Wuhan, Li began his professional career with Chinese side Shandong Luneng in 1991. He quickly rose through the ranks and became a key player for the club, helping them win several domestic titles.
In 1996, Li was called up to the Chinese national team by coach Huang Zhenliang, who had previously worked with him at Shandong Luneng. Under Huang's guidance, Li went on to represent China in international competitions such as the Asian Cup and the FIFA World Cup. Li's performances on the pitch earned him numerous accolades, including being named the Asian Player of the Year in 1998. He retired from professional football in 2005 after playing over 400 games for various clubs in China, including Shandong Luneng and Guangzhou Evergrande.
Since retiring, Li has continued to be involved in football management, serving as the head coach of the Chinese national team in 2010 and 2011. He has also been involved in promoting Chinese football both domestically and internationally, working with the Chinese Football Association (CFA) to develop young talent and improve the overall quality of the game.
Despite his retirement, Li continues to be a respected figure in Chinese football, and his legacy as one of the greatest players in the country's history will likely endure for generations to come.
